Message-ID: <47B30886.20506@psand.net> Hi All, I spoke to Clare and she thought that it might be of interest to all of you to here how our XtreamLab project is progressing. Our next event D.R.O.I.D is on the 23rd Feb taking place simultaneously at the Trinity Bristol, Barcelona and the island of Prados Azules (Blue Meadows) in Second Life. More information can be found at: http://www.xtreamlab.net/droid/ And our everso trendy mySpace page: http://myspace.com/xtreamlab And our possibly even more trendy but CIA ran Facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6297563033 It would be great if you'd like to attend the Trinity event live, we are keeping the cost as low as possible to help promote the event. We're also encouraging folks who can't make it to come and see the event in Second Life. It's easy to create an avatar and come along. I'll be presenting the project at this month's Dorkbot Bristol next Tuesday 19th - http://www.dorkbot.org/dorkbotbristol/?p=75 And on the 20th we're hoping to have an inauguration party in Prados Azules to test the venue. Hope to see you somewhere! Best wishes to all, Cheers, Mike. -- ---------- Mike Harris Psand.net Tlf: +44 7811 671 893 / +34 69 676 3122 / +44 870 162 4927 ext 2 Fax: +44 870 162 4925 Web: http://psand.net PGP: http://www.psand.net/mike/mike.gpg.pub IRC: irc://irc.psand.net:6667/#psand ---------- Psand Limited is registered in England and Wales company number 03291616. I hope you don't mind us asking round the mailing list and I wondered if some of you might know of people who would be ideal for us to talk to. This is what we're doing, and who we are looking for: Do you know of any people who might let us interview them? We?d like to do some user research for Happy towns this weekend ? Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th February, when people are at home and available. Could you help us find some people we could interview for about an hour and a half? We?re looking for people at different stages of their lives, like this: ? A man who is head of the family ? A woman who is head of the family ? An infant school child or a junior school ? Teenagers in pre-exam study time ? Someone who owns their own business ? A grandfather or a grandmother ? A student ? An unmarried young couple just starting out ? A couple with a new baby ... Ideally we can get them in pairs ? so a grandfather with a teenager, or a child with a dad (if that?s feasible). We are looking for at least 12 people in pairs of two. Ideally we would like a diverse mixture of male and female, ethnic backgrounds, and class who live in Bristol and fit the following descriptions. They own and use a mobile device. They use the internet a little or a lot. They might be technology lovers or technology haters. They do things that are considered new age or they are cynical about such things You will also suspect that they think like this... They might be a very responsible person, or completely self-absorbed and hedonistic, They might be pretty content with their lot, or they may be driven to get the best out of life They like people a lot and are constantly in touch, or they mostly like to keep to themselves We are designers who are looking at some early stage prototypes for a Bristol based project called Media Sandbox. Our goal is to figure out how we can design things that will make what they are doing now either better, or easier in the future. We want to learn about what people do to make themselves happy. We want to come and do an in-depth interview with you. It will take about 1.5 hours. If this sounds like something you know someone would be interested in participating in, then we will be doing the research between the 23rd and 25th February 2008. Please contact Gill on 07966209615 or mail gill at plotsite.net. and with many thanks in advance! But if you do, you don't have to be related, but its good if you know each other. So lets do a coffee sunday anyway? I'm definitely coming up as we had a great response to getting people for this.
